This term the Whitefield Schools arts team invited Balletboyz linked with Sadlers Wells theatre and the flamenco group Trovadour to return to Whitefield, only this time working together to create an improvised dance story.
Four groups from across the school came together in curriculum week to 'get moving' cooperating together in a week of workshops creating a spectacular performance on the last day for parents, visitors, staff and fellow pupils.
They created music with the Trovadour group which includes voice, guitars and a dancer using rhythms and motifs which were incorporated by Karl as they choreographed dances with the dancer from BalletBoyz.
This was a huge undertaking with many demands on pupils and staff which was so well received we are hoping they will return again. They were so impressed with our participation they have invited 18+ students to audition for the dance course which is starting shortly. What a compliment for Whitefield.
Next term, we are very pleased to have Bamboozle theatre company return with the 'gentle giant' for pupils with pupils with more profound needs and 'Storm' an interpretation of Shakespeare's Tempest for pupils on the autistic spectrum. We hope that those pupils who didn't attend last scenic year will get to experience their unique approach music, drama, movement and the senses.
