Thank you to everyone who made our charity golf day such a success

On 19th July 2018 the Joseph Clarke Trust held its 5th Charity Golf Day at West Essex Golf Course and raised nearly £5,000. As in previous years the Trust is extremely grateful for the generous support and sponsorship from both local Businesses and Friends of the Trust.

The Main Sponsor, was Borno Pharmacy in Highams Park and the Hole Sponsors were Henry Morgan, Petty Son & Prestwich, McRaes Estate Agents, Walthamstow Social Centre for the Blind, Rotary Club of Chingford,  Sullivan & Co,  Essex Security Services Limited.  Abbey Total Care Group, Robert's Motorworks,  Essex Property Maintenance Services Limited, Phil Mitchell, David Cross, Kevin Horgan, Tony Beaumont and Mr Khan.

48 indomitable Golfers teed off on a hot, bright and sunny day. The morning's  9-hole Texas Scramble Competition was won by a team entered by Dave Ranger. In the afternoon there was an 18 hole Stableford Competition that was won by Phil Mitchell with 43 points and included a “Hole in One” at the 7th Hole. The Longest Drive Competition was won by Roddy Bissett of Matchroom Sport and the Nearest the Pin Competition was won by Chris Hearn, a regular contributor to the Trust.

In the evening 18 Guests , including the Headteacher, Isobel Cox and her Husband and Elaine Colquohon, the Whitefield Academy Trust’s CEO joined the Golfers for the Presentation Dinner that was followed by the Auction and Raffle.

The Auction, Raffles, etc raised about £1,500 and the Trust is also grateful to everyone who contributed Raffle Prizes  The Auction consisted of 3 Lots including... a Fourball Voucher donated by West Essex Golf Club, a Snooker Cue signed by Steve Davis donated by Matchroom Sport and some Tottenham Hotspur FC memorabilia that included a programme for their game against Sunderland in 1952 (Priced 2 pence).

The Trust is also extremely grateful to  West Essex Golf Club for their continued support in hosting the event.

When Isobel returns after the Summer break she will be letting the Trust have the School’s “Wish List” for the remainder of 2018 and 2019.

There seems no doubt that the Trust will hold their 6th Charity Golf Day next year.
