Joseph Clarke School
Joseph Clarke School is a special school for children and young people with a vision impairment. We are an ambitious school striving to achieve outstanding outcomes for all of our pupils at all times. Our pupils are keen to learn and our school community has a positive ethos where everyone is valued.
We are looking to appoint a full-time teacher to our secondary department who is enthusiastic, with a passion for their subject and a willingness to be flexible and creative. You will be an excellent classroom practitioner with an interest in or previous experience in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs. You will be a Qualified Teacher of the Vision Impaired or willing to gain this qualification with 3 years of appointment to the post. You will be committed to understanding and mitigating the barriers to learning that a child with a vision impairment needs to overcome to achieve success. You will be flexible, solution focused and willing to work in a close team and learn new skills.
You will be responsible for teaching Science at Key Stages 3 and 4 from Entry Level to GCSE, to small class groups of pupils with a vision impairment and/or additional needs. You will also have responsibility for a tutor group to which you will teach a range of Foundation subjects.
Joseph Clarke School is part of the Whitefield Academy Trust, which also includes Whitefield Schools which provides specialist education for pupils with complex needs including communication and interaction difficulties. You will be working alongside knowledgeable and supportive colleagues, with excellent facilities including our Professional and Development Centre which provides support, training and resources for both school staff and other professionals
You will have the opportunity to gain the QTVI Mandatory Qualification through the University of Birmingham whilst working with us, in addition to continued opportunities for professional development in Leadership.
