Following a confirmed case of Covid-19 in the Margaret Brearley part of Whitefield this weekend, we have taken the decision to temporarily close the Margaret Brearley ‘bubble’ for the time being and until we receive further information. In reaching this decision, we have liaised with Public Health England, the local authority and our local public health officer. We have considered the safety of our pupils and our team and staffing sufficiency to keep the children and young people safe.
We are working with Public Health to review the next steps. We have not taken this decision lightly and will do all we can to bring the children back to school as soon as possible.
We have already contacted the parents and carers of all children and young people who have been close contact with the infected person.
Parents and carers of with children in the Margaret Brearley bubble should not send their child to school until contacted by the school. Pupils in the Niels Chapman, RGC, Peter Turner and Early Years ‘bubbles’ should attend school as usual.
Please do not send your child to school if they, or anyone who lives with them, shows any of the following symptoms:
- a high temperature
- a new, persistent, cough
- a loss of smell or taste
or if anyone who lives with them has a confirmed case of Covid-19.
We will be in contact in due course this week. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Head of School or a member of the Family Support Team for further information.
